Why Davos, Why Now
“Globalization has failed the West and the United States of America. It’s a failed policy.”
— Howard Lutnick, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, World Economic Forum
As global elites convene this January in Davos, a question echoed across diplomatic corridors and financial markets alike: Why is the Trump administration showing up at the World Economic Forum at all?
According to Howard Lutnick, the answer is straightforward—and confrontational by design. The administration is not attending to preserve the old order - the “Great Reset” plan announced by former WEF Chairman Klaus Schwab at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 - but to challenge it head-on.
“We are in Davos, at the World Economic Forum, and the Trump administration—and myself—we are here to make a very clear point, “ Lutnick said. “Globalization has failed the West and the United States of America. It’s a failed policy. It is what the WEF has stood for, which is export offshore, far-shore, find the cheapest labor in the world and the world is a better place for it. The fact is, it has left America behind. It has left the American worker behind. And what we are here to say is that America First is a different model—one that we encourage other countries to consider—which is that our workers come first. We can have policies that impact our workers. Sovereignty is your borders. You’re entitled to have borders. You shouldn’t offshore your medicine. You shouldn’t offshore your semiconductors. You shouldn’t offshore your entire industrial base and have it be hollowed out beneath you. You should not be dependent for that which is fundamental to your sovereignty on any other nation. And if you’re going to be dependent on someone, it darn well better be your best allies.
Okay? And so that is a different way of thinking. It is completely different than the WEF.”
In a forceful op-ed published by the Financial Times, Lutnick—writing in his official capacity as U.S. Secretary of Commerce—argued that decades of globalist economic doctrine hollowed out Western industry, weakened supply chains, and left working families behind. Davos, he contends, is precisely where that message must be delivered.
A Direct Challenge to Globalist Orthodoxy
For years, the World Economic Forum has championed borderless trade, offshoring, and “lowest-cost” labor as the path to prosperity. Lutnick rejects that framework as failed economics with real-world consequences.
Lutnick said Trump Administration officials didn’t go to Davos to uphold the status quo but to confront it head-on. For far too long, he said the fate of the global economy has been decided by an international establishment who took America’s economic power and gave it to the rest of the world.
Under President Donald Trump, the administration’s case is that national strength—not supranational management—is the foundation of global stability. Rebuilding domestic manufacturing, securing critical supply chains, and demanding fair trade are presented not as isolationism, but as a corrective.

“Globalization Has Failed”: Lutnick Delivers a Blunt Warning at Davos
In one of the most arresting moments of the World Economic Forum, Lutnick did not soften his words for the Davos audience. He framed the administration’s appearance not as participation in globalist consensus—but as a direct challenge to it.
Standing before an international room shaped by decades of free-flow globalization doctrine, Lutnick declared that the model itself has collapsed under its own consequences.
Arguing that globalization has failed the West and the United States, he argued that the WEF-era premise—export, offshore, farshore, chase the cheapest labor—did not create shared prosperity, but hollowed out national resilience and left working people behind.
From there, he pivoted to the Trump administration’s alternative: America First as a sovereignty-and-workers-first framework, urging other nations to consider the same posture for their own people.
Lutnick emphasized that sovereignty begins with borders and industrial independence—and that no nation should outsource what is essential to its survival:
Medicine and critical health supply chains
Semiconductors and advanced technology
Core industrial capacity
Strategic resources that underpin national security
And in a pointed critique of Europe’s “net-zero” trajectory, he argued that policy becomes self-defeating when it forces dependency on external powers for the very materials required to comply—warning that economic “virtue” can become strategic submission.
His core thesis landed like a hammer in the Davos chamber: governments exist to protect their workers, strengthen their production base, and secure their national future—then cooperate from strength, not weakness.
In short, Lutnick’s message to the global establishment was unmistakable: the Trump administration did not come to Davos to blend in. It came to reset the rules.

“Capitalism Has a New Sheriff in Town”
Lutnick’s message in Davos has been blunt. Speaking at high-level panels, he described himself as “the hammer,” signaling that market access to the United States will now come with expectations: reciprocal trade, onshore investment, and respect for sovereignty.
That posture has unsettled European and Canadian officials, particularly as discussions touched on tariffs, industrial policy, and strategic territories such as Greenland. But Lutnick insists the shock is intentional.
“When America shines, the world shines,” he told attendees. “A strong America is stabilizing—not threatening—to global markets.”
The Numbers Behind the Argument
Administration officials point to first-year results they describe as historic: a sharply reduced trade deficit, rising exports, declining imports, and GDP growth driven by record domestic investment. Equity markets across the U.S., Europe, Japan, and South Korea have climbed during the same period—evidence, they argue, that the global economy benefits when America prioritizes production and resilience.
In this framing, tariffs are not an end but a tool—used to force negotiations, reset terms, and bring capital back onshore.

Sovereignty Over Dependency
A recurring theme in Lutnick’s remarks has been economic sovereignty. Medicine, semiconductors, energy, and critical minerals, he argues, should never be fully outsourced—especially to geopolitical rivals.
“Dependence is not efficiency,” he said during a Davos exchange. “If something is fundamental to your national security, you should not rely on adversaries to supply it.”
The administration’s broader message to allies: America First does not mean America alone. Nations that strengthen their own industrial bases, Lutnick says, become better partners—not weaker ones.
Howard Lutnick: Leadership, Stewardship, and the Conditions for Renewal
History shows that spiritual awakenings rarely emerge from economic suffocation. Revival often follows seasons where order is restored, families regain stability, and communities are no longer crushed under unjust systems.
While Howard Lutnick has not publicly framed his work in religious terms, his leadership reflects a principle long recognized in the Bible: righteous stewardship creates space for renewal. By confronting failed globalist policies, defending national sovereignty, and restoring productive capacity at home, Lutnick’s role in the Trump administration has helped remove economic pressures that have burdened working families for generations.
In biblical history, figures like Joseph, Nehemiah, and Cyrus were not revivalists—but their leadership reshaped conditions so faith could flourish again. In much the same way, the economic reset now unfolding does not replace revival—it prepares the ground for it.
Revival is ultimately God’s work. But history reminds us that when unjust systems are dismantled and people are given room to breathe, hearts often turn upward.
“By justice a king gives a country stability.” — Proverbs 29:4

Why Davos Still Matters
Critics ask why challenge globalism from inside its most symbolic forum. Lutnick’s answer: Davos is where economic narratives are shaped—and where they must be disrupted.
“We’re not asking permission. We’re not seeking approval,” he wrote. “We’re declaring that the era of America Last has ended.”
For Prophecy Investigators, the moment fits a larger pattern. Davos has long represented centralized economic control. The Trump administration’s presence signals something different: a deliberate confrontation between two worldviews—global technocracy versus national stewardship.
Whether welcomed or resisted, one thing is clear. This year in Davos, the message from Washington is not subtle.
Capitalism, the administration insists, has a new sheriff in town.
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.” — Proverbs 21:5

Closing Reflection: Designated Disrupters and the Pattern Behind the Moment
In The Trump Code and its sequel, Designated Disrupter, I explore a recurring pattern woven throughout Scripture and history: when systems grow rigid, corrupt, or resistant to truth, God often raises up disruptive figures—not always preachers or prophets, but leaders willing to confront broken structures and restore order.
Howard Lutnick’s role in this moment reflects that pattern.
He does not speak the language of revival, yet his leadership confronts forces that have quietly eroded national sovereignty, weakened families, and stripped communities of stability. By challenging failed globalist assumptions and insisting on economic stewardship rooted in accountability and production, Lutnick’s work helps clear ground that has long been compacted by dependency and control.
In Designated Disrupter, I wrote that disruption is not chaos—it is often correction. Throughout biblical history, figures such as Joseph, Nehemiah, and Cyrus were not revivalists, but their obedience in governance created conditions where faith could once again flourish. Revival followed not because systems were perfect, but because injustice was restrained and order restored.
The moment unfolding at Davos is not merely economic or political. It is emblematic of a larger reset—one in which centralized power is challenged, truth is reasserted, and nations are reminded that strength begins with stewardship. In that sense, Howard Lutnick’s leadership does not replace revival—it prepares the way for it.
Let’s Pray
Lord God,
We thank You that You are sovereign over nations, economies, and leaders.
We ask that You grant wisdom, humility, and courage to those entrusted with authority in this hour.
Where systems have failed and people have been burdened, bring justice and restoration. Where truth has been suppressed, let it rise with clarity and conviction.
Prepare the ground for renewal—within institutions, within communities, and within hearts.
May all leadership ultimately serve Your purposes and point people back to what is good, true, and enduring.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
