Politicians preach undeliverable campaign promises. Influencers sway public opinion with biased information, and news broadcasters shell out propaganda. Even lay people spread fake news through social media, often unaware of the lies they promote. Deception pollutes.
In the War on Truth, deception has become the key tactic for disruption, and only a quarter of Americans feel confident in their ability to recognize deception or false news (Statista, 2022).
Yet, deception is nothing new. At the beginning of Genesis, Satan planted a simple corrupt idea in Eve’s mind in the Garden of Eden. His phrase “Did God really say…?” resulted in the Fall of humanity and still echoes in the world today, disrupting the unity of the Kingdom of God on earth. In the Bible, Matthew 24 warns us that intensified division, like what we are experiencing in our society and the Church today, marks the coming End Times.
The passage continues to caution us of false prophets and deceptive ideologies that will lead many believers to turn away from their faith and hate one another.
God warns believers to be vigilant. Satan, the father of lies, leads the forces of darkness as a military strategist. Just like how military leaders throughout history have utilized deception to win wars, our enemy is attempting to sow deceit among the heavenly ranks. All believers must engage in both military and spiritual intelligence to alert one another to the signs of the enemy’s advanced tactics and avoid the pitfalls of deception.
Building on the successful mission of their national best-seller The Military Guide to Armageddon (2021), retired U.S. Army Col. David Giammona and Pulitzer Prize-nominated investigative journalist Troy Anderson have used their extensive military understanding and media experience to develop a resource that helps discern the pervasive, deceptive strategies of the enemy.
